Kirklandbank Farm - Staycation to the Scottish Highlands

Kirklandbank Farm - Staycation to the Scottish Highlands

Plan your next staycation to Kirklandbank Farm and take in the breath-taking scenery.

Staycations have become the latest top trend. Jetting off abroad, suitcase in hand, comes with complications that we never could have predicted 2020 would bring. However, many of us feel that we could still reap the benefits of some time away to relax and unwind. That’s where the ‘staycation’ comes in - holiday in your own country! There’s never been a better time to explore what’s right on your front doorstep and at Kirklandbank Farm, you have the Scottish Highlands and Lowlands just waiting to be explored.

A little bit about Kirklandbank Farm

Resting proudly on the Highland Boundary fault line (right next to our Highland Boundary distillery!) is Kirklandbank Farmhouse. Boasting stunning views over the surrounding Perthshire landscapes and local town, Alyth. It’s the perfect setting for your well-deserved peaceful retreat.

We offer self-catering accommodation for up to 10 people (this may vary with current COVID-19 guidelines) in our beautifully renovated farmhouse. Whether you want to unwind with a good book and a glass of wine, or rest in front of the fire after day roaming the countryside. You’ll feel right at home on your staycation to Kirklandbank Farm.

What is there to see & do?

There’s lots to do both on site and in the local area of Kirklandbank Farm.

Experience Farm Life

Guests are more than welcome to get stuck in with some of our farm jobs. From collecting eggs, feeding the chickens or even gathering our Hebridean sheep. Or, wander through our orchard, Kirklandbank Farm flower meadow or spend time relaxing at our wildlife pond.

Go walking

One of the top attractions of our hillside location is the numerous paths and nature trails right on our doorstep. One of Scotland’s favourite routes The Cateran Trail passes only 100m from the farm. We definitely recommend checking this one out during a stay with us. There is also the Alyth Community Woodlands which neighbours our land to the south. This walk leads on nicely to the scenic Den O’Alyth; an ancient wooded valley that inhabits the Burn of Alyth and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

We also offer an orientation tour for all of our guests on arrival at Alyth Hill. Guided walks of the area on request from Marian who is a biologist and is walk-leader and first-aid trained.

Visit Alyth

The local town of Alyth is a peaceful, countryside hub full of friendly faces. There are cosy pubs, restaurants and cafes to check out at your leisure. The Singing Kettle and The Cafe in the Square are lovely wee cafes to grab a coffee and slice of cake or perhaps you’d prefer a classic pub lunch at The Alyth Hotel or wonderful dinner at the Lands of Loyal.  Inspired by the town’s rural roots, the Alyth Museum takes a look back at the local area’s history of farming and residents of years gone by. The museum is currently closed for 2020 but we hope to see its doors open again next summer.

And More!

If you bring your car to Kirklandbank Farm you can enjoy some fantastic days out further afield.

Mountain biking is from the door-step and fantastic fishing, golfing, hillwalking and outdoor sports activities are all nearby.  If you're looking for guided activities then the local team from Outdoor Explore offer brilliant trips.  If it's the Winter time you can even go skiing at Glenshee Ski Centre. Or, escape to the city for a day. We are a 35 minute drive from Dundee and 40 minutes from Perth city centre.
