Our Auld Alliance take on the French 75. We have shifted the French 75 to a FrenchScots '75 in recognition of the Auld Alliance between France and Scotland. The French 75 is one of the most popular champagne cocktails, so we hope you like our take on it. There is a long history of trading between France and Scotland, so we are quietly confident we can borrow this recipe.
Ingredients
- 60ml Birch and Elderflower Wild Scottish Spirit
- 15ml lemon juice
- 1 tsp elderflower or sugar syrup
- 150ml Brut Champagne (or sparkling wine equivalent), to top
Method
- Add the Birch and Elderflower spirit, lemon juice and elderflower syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake hard for 15 seconds.
- Strain into a tall glass filled with fresh ice.
- Top with Brut Champagne and serve.
Variations
For a more elegant presentation, serve in a chilled champagne flute without ice. The traditional French 75 is served in a flute, and it works beautifully either way.
